Aunt Annas Reptile Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization the provides exceptional care to reptiles that are in need. We provide a safe, loving environment for reptiles that need to be (surrendered due to unforeseen circumstances, health conditions, etc.) rescued, rehabilitated and (hopefully) rehomed. We provide sanctuary to reptiles that are unable to be adopted and allow them to live their best lives in our care. We ensure all reptiles are healthy before they are rehomed. We also provide educational services and boarding. We believe in nurturing the animal-human bond.
The story behind the name Aunt Anna. I know most people get confused when I answer a call or email and I sign my name as Suzanne. About 29 years ago my niece woke up one morning and changed her name (I am not going to say her name and what she changed it to as that is her story to tell). That very same day I went from Aunt Suanne (she couldn’t say the z in Suzanne) to Aunt Anna. I have been Aunt Anna for almost 30 years now and I have never looked back.
Now on to the story of how the rescue came to be. The same niece called me one day (she works at a box chain pet store) and there was a ball python surrendered and she knew I have always had a love for snakes and lizards and she offered him to me. The clincher for this snake is that she had named him Leonard (my papas name) and I knew he was for me. He was the first to come to Aunt Annas 😊. I then bought a savannah monitor (this is the only reptile I have purchased lol) his name is Yoshi and I still have him as well. Then came Bowser the blue tongue skink I rescued from a bad breeding situation and he has a lucky fin and scars from the damage he took in that situation. The very next day I get a call from said niece again…Aunt Anna I have a bearded dragon…I was there in a minute and then came Mushu. After that I got 3 Leopard Geckos from her that were surrendered. Magera (the small and mighty) who has sever MBD, Kirby my snuggle bug and Ghost my handsome guy. There have been so many more since then and you can find the rest of my Ambassadors above.
I finally became a nonprofit 501(c)(3) so I could help more reptiles that need their Aunt Anna too. We currently house 75 reptiles in our home (I didn’t care for having a living room or dining room anyway 😉).
Please consider making a donation to our rescue as even $5.00 is enough to get some of the produce these guys and gals need everyday to heal, thrive and grow so they can find their forever homes. So never think you need to make a big donation to help us every dollar counts and we appreciate your support in our cause.
Your support and contributions will enable us to help these animals. Your generous donation will fund our mission. Please remember all donations are a tax right off.
